Preparation
Gi and Hakama clean, Hakama correctly folded
Bogu (protective gear) complete: Men, Kote, Do, Tare
Shinai checked for cracks (splinters = risk of injury)
Tenugui (head cloth worn under the Men) ready
Warm-up
Ashi-sabaki (footwork): Okuri-ashi, Hiraki-ashi, Tsugi-ashi
Suburi: sword strikes without Bogu (Men-Suburi, Sayu-Men)
Kiri-kaeshi with a partner: alternating Men strikes to warm up
Waza Training
Shikake-waza: attacking techniques (Tobikomi Men, Kote-Men, Do)
Oji-waza: counter techniques (Nuki-waza, Suriage-waza, Kaeshi-waza)
Kakari-geiko: intensive attacking drill against an experienced Motodachi
Jigeiko (Free Training)
Jigeiko against various partners of different grades
Focus: Seme (dominance), Ma-ai (distance), Kiai (battle shout)
Wrap-up
Seiza and Mokuso (meditation, 3 min)
Rei ceremony: Rei to the Sensei, Rei to the training partners
Clean the Shinai and stow the Bogu correctly
